Why hasn't Bilic signed any Croatians?

There is always decent young Croatian talent knocking around, yet Bilic has never picked up any of them?
Not saying he should sign one just for the sake of it, but since he meant to be such an icon in his homeland I'm surprised he hasn't pulled something out the hat with a top Croatian talent as yet?

Kovacic from Madrid been made available at just over 20 million.
I know it may as well be 200 million but if we had money and ambition bilic should be on a plane to handcuff and bring him back.

They've probably all sussed Bilic out for the joke manager that he is. I guess it doesn't help that he seemingly hates players under the age of 29.

You'd think he would have contacts with the Croatia u21 team for some likely prospects
We were linked with that Alen Halilovic who was sensational in the Croatia v Argentina game at Upton Park but he ended up going to Hamburg & then on loan in Spain again
